Visual Communications: Modular Design

By using shape, line, and color, I was able to create a modular design that emphasizes three-dimensional form. The three-dimensional spheres utelize shape, as well as rhythem and movement, by using repeating patterns and forms to create unity in the artwork.

In terms of color, I chose a three-color scheme of complentary colors such as reds and greens. Earthtones found in some of the spheres creates intensity change, and various shades of blue create value change in the artwork. Rather than designing my artwork around the text, I had to create my composistion first and add an interesting combination of text last to create intensity and tension within my artwork. Font, size, and color change are all important factors behind making text stronger as a whole in an artwork.
